One example of the fantastic cocktails offered by Centro Restaurant & Lounge bartenders, Shawn Hopton and Sarah Buchan is the Honey Winter Bourbon. This cocktail promises an exciting journey for your palate and is really smooth. The ingredients are 1.5 oz Honey sage syrup, 2 oz. Bulleit Bourbon, and a sage leaf and orange peel garnish. To make this cocktail, Shawn Hopton and Sarah Buchan stir honey sage syrup and bourbon in a mixing glass with ice. A lowball glass is filled with ice and the mix strained over ice. Once the mix comes to fruition, an orange peel is twisted to release it’s oil directly over the glass. To complete the cocktail, the drink is garnished with an orange peel and sage leaf. The Honey Winter Bourbon was inspired during one winter when Centro Restaurant and Lounge wanted to do something different with the cocktails menu. The establishment wanted to create a new cocktail that would incorporate simple syrups or some of the house-made cordials. After carrying out multiple trial runs, Centro Restaurant and Lounge came up with the ideal infusion of sage and honey into a simple syrup that was quite savory. The sweet earthiness of the honey sage syrup combined with the citrus from the orange perfectly with your favorite bourbon’s smoky and woody notes.
